Affordable Restaurants for Students in Montreal

At last, eating at a restaurant won’t mean saving up for weeks in advance. Loving to eat out with friends and family? Don't have enough money to enjoy it? This is an unfortunate experience that we are all too familiar with, especially as a full-time student. But don’t despair! Enjoying a night out at a restaurant doesn’t always mean you have to break the bank or order from the value menu at McDonald’s.

Next time you feel like treating yourself to a nice meal without stressing about what your bill will come out to, be sure to check out these five extremely affordable restaurants in Montreal.

1. Le Warehouse

The first place you’ll want to check out is Le Warehouse, located at 1446 rue Crescent, Montreal. Just a brief walk from Peel metro station, this location is super accessible. Enjoy your meal here up on their balcony for a beautiful view of Montreal’s iconic Crescent street. This restaurant is known for their $5 menu, where every item is only $4.95. Enjoy items like pierogis, burgers, tacos, unique sandwiches, plenty of pastas, mac and cheese, and more. Also, don’t be worried about the portions or the quality. The food is delicious and the portions are plentiful!

2. L’Entrepôt

This is the sister restaurant to Le Warehouse, but it still deserved it’s own mention on this list. L'Entrepôt is located at 1019 avenue Mont-Royal East, Montreal, and just like Le Warehouse, it’s open from 11AM to 3AM, making it a great option for a late night (or early morning) excursion. Both restaurants share the same menu so fortunately, everything is $4.95. This price does not include drinks, but you should not let that stop you! Both are known for their jaw-dropping prices, unique and extensive drink menu, great food, and a vibrant atmosphere.

3. Cinko

Situated at 1641 Saint-Denis Street, this pop-art themed restaurant in Montreal’s Latin Quarter is known for their cheap menu, extensive options, and generous portions. As their name suggests, every dish on the menu is only $5. They offer vegetarian and vegan meals and their drinks are incredibly priced as well. It boats a very young crowd, so only step through those doors when you’re prepared for some loud music and a wild night, perfect for a student. It’s been open since 2014 and if you haven’t tried it yet, it’s time to start making plans for this weekend. It’s opened from 11AM to 12AM every day, so be sure to go before you hit the club.

4. Patati Patata Friterie de Montreal

This colourful restaurant located at 4177 St Laurent, Montreal, is a little different from the others on the list so far. This is a tiny diner-type restaurant but, despite the size, it’s very hard to miss with it’s eye-catching exterior. The menu is posted up on the wall of this tiny joint and the majority (besides two items) are under $10. They’re especially famous for their delicious poutine, but the menu does not stop there. They have burgers, fish sliders, vegetarian options, and more. It’s opened from 8AM to 2AM so you can enjoy their breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snack. There’s a park super close by so even if the restaurant is full, have no fear, the beauty of the outdoors is here!

5. Pot Masson

This restaurant situated at 3141 Rue Masson East has a very interesting concept. If you order a drink with your meal, the meal will only cost you $5! Also, the items on the menu change every Thursday, making each visit a pleasant surprise. The interior is simply beautiful, and the drinks are served in mason jars and are amazing. Open from 7AM to 12AM (until 1AM from Thursday to Saturday), you can enjoy a meal here at any time.

Give these restaurants a try! Your wallet and your tummy will thank you later.
